ABOUT

JUSTICE MENDHEIM

Justice Brad Mendheim was appointed as an Associate Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court by Governor Kay Ivey in January 2018. Prior to his appointment by Governor Ivey, Justice Mendheim served continuously as an Alabama judge since 2001, including as a circuit judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit, covering Henry (Abbeville) and Houston (Dothan) Counties and as district judge of Houston County beginning in 2001.

Prior to becoming a judge, Brad served for six and a half years as an assistant district attorney for Henry and Houston Counties, where he personally tried over 120 jury trials. During this time, he also served as an active member of the board of directors of the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center and was the chief prosecutor for the local Drug Task Force.
 

Brad and his wife Michelle, have been married for over 24 years. They are the proud parents of three sons, Connor, Ryan and Carson. Brad is a lifelong resident of Dothan, graduating from Northview High School. He and his family are long-time members of First Baptist Church of Dothan, where he is a Sunday school teacher and deacon.

Judge Mendheim is now Justice Mendheim after swearing in ceremony

Brad Mendheim is now an Alabama Supreme Court justice after he was sworn-in Monday in Montgomery. He previously served as circuit judge for Houston and Henry Counties. Governor Kay Ivey, who appointed him Friday, and Chief Justice Lyn Stuart were among those who attended the private swearing in at the Capitol.​

Friday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey appointed Circuit Judge Brad Mendheim to fill a vacancy on the Alabama Supreme Court created by the resignation of Justice Glenn Murdock.
